Arrange transport of goods to and from Tunisia

Main Useful Means of Transport

Merchandise distribution in Tunisia is well organized. More than 90% of Tunisia’s foreign commercial trade is conducted by sea. According to the latest figures from the Office de la Marine Marchande et des Ports, in 2019 27.2 million tonnes transited through Tunisian ports (-11% year-on-year), of which 16.9 million of imports (-7% y-o-y) and 10.3 million of exports (-11% y-o-y). Most incoming and outbound trade passes through Rades port (23.5%), the country’s principal container facility. The other ports with the most traffic were those of Bizerte (18%), Skhira (17.1%, specialized in petroleum transport), and Sfax (15.9%). The ports of Bizerte and Zarzis have associated free-trade zones. The total number of containers (TEU) stood at 474,222.
The state-owned enterprise Compagnie Tunisienne de Navigation is the principal shipping company in Tunisia.

The major freight centre at Tunis Carthage Airport handles 97% of the country’s air freight.
Moreover, Tunisia enjoys a fairly advanced network of roads and railways to facilitate transportation and distribution to all parts of the country.
